Our first Egg Drop in 2007 was a disaster. We planned for 2,000 people and 8,000 people showed up. Parents were separated from their children, traffic was backed up for miles, hundreds of kids didn't get any eggs or candy and the park officials threatened to shut us down. The local internet message board had some choice words for our young church.

Not exactly the outcome we were hoping for. In the days that followed, nobody on our team wanted to do the event. But as the dust settled, we decided that it would take at least one more year to judge true effectiveness.

So we decided to give it another try. I'm glad we did! The second time, attendance was down, but it was the smoothest event we'd ever done. City officials were amazed and they ASKED us to continue the annual event.

We learned.

We actually learned a lot. And year three was even better.
